You can argue about this forever. Some people think that the most important thing is technology. Perfect information on tonalities in squares, sky-high scratches almost on the head, sets rehearsed at home a million times, and no improvisation. I do not agree with that.
This is no longer creativity, but sport, and here emotions come to the fore. In this case, you admire the skills of the DJ, but do not enter the trance that can be obtained from an artist who knows how to work with the audience.
The most important thing for me is the taste and the tension that is created during the performance. DJing is like dancing, like sex, like cooking, like drawing, like composing music. Everything is limited only by your flight of fancy.
During the set, you can tell a whole story that will get under people’s skin, and they will cry with happiness at this time. If this happens, then this DJ can be considered cool. And the most important thing is to develop both parts: the spiritual and the technical.
